Founded in 2005 as an intimate gathering of friends, DLD (Digital – Life – Design) has developed into Europe’s leading innovation conference for visionaries from around the globe. The aim of DLD is to spark conversations that cross boundaries and bring participants together in a common search for answers to the most challenging questions that arise through digital change. DLD has become the go-to conference for the discovery of technological trends at their very early stages. The annual conference in Munich, held every January, shortly before the World Economic Forum in Davos, is internationally renowned for attracting the best and the brightest in the world of digital.


Chess grandmaster and Avast Security Ambassador, Garry Kasparov, and Avast CTO, Michal Pechoucek, will discuss the risks and opportunities of AI for our society, in cybersecurity and other fields. They will discuss how emerging AI technologies will shape our future lives, jobs, mobility, health, and the online world.

Speaker biography

Michal Pechoucek

Chief Technical Officer
Michal Pechoucek joined Avast as CTO in September 2019. Mr. Pechoucek leads the core technology and R&D teams supporting the work of the Avast Threat Labs, Big Data and innovation teams. He is also responsible for the company’s scientific research in the fields of Artificial Intelligence, machine learning, and cybersecurity. Before joining Avast, Mr. Pechoucek spent over twenty years as a professor at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering at the Czech Technical University (CTU) in Prague, during which time he led the Department of Computer Science and founded the Artificial Intelligence Center in 2001. He also co-founded a research-oriented study programme, Open Informatics, which offers a choice of different subjects, combines different areas of informatics and approaches and continues to be taught today.

Garry Kasparov

Avast Security Ambassador
Garry Kasparov became the youngest world chess champion in history in 1985 and was the world’s top-rated player for 20 years. He first discovered the potential of AI during his famous matches against the supercomputer Deep Blue. Ever since, he’s spoken about future tech, most recently as Avast’s security ambassador. His matches against arch-rival Anatoly Karpov and the IBM supercomputer Deep Blue popularized chess and machine intelligence in unprecedented ways.
