PRAGUE, Czech Republic, April 19, 2011 – AVAST Software, developer of the avast! antivirus application, is proud to announce that it is the organizer of the Computer Anti-virus Researcher's Organization (CARO) 2011 Workshop.
The CARO 2011 Workshop, taking place in Prague on May 5-6, 2011, is a technical series of presentations and discussions on current security issues. Speakers will come from a broad range of security firms ranging from AVAST Software to Websense, with Igor Muttik of McAfee giving the keynote address. Workshop topics will include themes such as URL shortening, detection of malicious PDF files and shellcode analysis.
"The 2011 CARO Workshop is designed specifically to help antivirus professionals from across the industry," said Pavel Baudis, co-founder and virus guru at AVAST Software. "It will provide two days of important information for and by security specialists, with the additional plus of a beautiful Prague spring,"
CARO is an informal grouping of specialists that has been dissecting computer malware for nearly two decades. Every year, CARO members meet for a security workshop sponsored by a different antivirus developer.
"The CARO Workshop is one of my favorite IT events of the year as it brings together individuals and IT companies in an informal, yet highly technical way," added Mr. Baudis. "As an individual who has benefited from past CARO events, I’m pleased that AVAST Software is able to organize and host the CARO 2011 Workshop."
Over one hundred specialists from security firms such as F-Secure, Microsoft, Sourcefire, Symantec, and Trend-Micro have already confirmed that they will participate in this year’s CARO Workshop. Additional information about the CARO 2011 Workshop program and registration details are at the CARO 2011 website (http://www.caro2011.org/program.php).
