PRAGUE, Czech Republic, August 25, 2010 - Avast! Internet Security was awarded the highest three-star, advanced+ certificate from AV-Comparatives for its performance.
AV-Comparatives, an independent testing laboratory based in Austria, tested products from 14 vendors on different performance criteria. The tests simulated user behavior for seven performance categories such as file copying, archiving (file storage), and program installation/uninstallation. avast! Internet Security got the highest ‘very fast’ in these three categories.
The 14 tested applications were placed into four tiers: tested, standard, advanced, and advanced plus. AV products falling into the lower tiers included those from PC Tools, Kaspersky, and G-DATA.
AV-Comparatives tested the 14 AV products on computers running Windows XP and Windows 7 Professional operating systems.

1. On 8 April 2014, Microsoft stops support for Internet Explorer browsers running on Windows XP. This will put your computer and data, such as credit card and online banking details, at greater risk to hackers and malware.
2. Several browser alternatives exist, but we at AVAST use and recommend Chrome, as we find it to be the most-secure option available.
